Welcome to the SIPTU College Organising and Communicating to Win Campaigns course for trade union activists and staff.
The purpose of this course is to equip you with the knowledge, skill and competence required to organise workers within the workplace and run successful campaigns. You will also learn how to communicate effectively, both verbally and nonverbally, in both every day and work-related tasks.
The course will be interactive and hands on. In other educational settings in the past, you may have experienced being ‘talked at’ or ‘lectured to’. That won’t be the case in this course.
One of the most effective ways of acquiring skills is through experience – learning by doing. During this course, we will create the opportunities in the classroom to practice the skills you need. By working in pairs or groups, you will work on issues and problems, and learn to listen, debate, plan and organise.
Most importantly, you come here with your own experiences. While you will learn things from others on the course, you will also have valuable things to contribute.
